Students are interviewed and placed in an appropriate English Language
program, based on their language proficiency and goals.
English Placement Test
Very soon after you arrive at SSL, you
will take a placement exam to determine which of the ESL Program Levels you
will enter. SSL uses the SSL-ESL Test consisting of three areas based on new iBT TOEFL Test style
to place students. This placement test will tell us what your current reading, vocabulary,
and grammar skills are in the English language.
Also, during the orientation period at the beginning of a session, students will undergo several different types of evaluations to determine their levels at SSL.
We will also give you an
oral interview, and if necessary, a writing test.
Level Test
You will take a level test to determine which Level you will advance to for the next session which is every last day of each session. We usually recommend you to stay at the same level if your score is not qualified enough for the next session. If you are absent more than 16 hours for each session (8 weeks), you will not be eligible to take this exam.
