Location: Southern tip of Nevada in a desert valley surrounded by mountains.
Academic Calendar: Two semesters (Fall & Spring) of approximately 16 weeks each. Three summer sessions are held from May through August.
Deadline for Application: Application deadlines are February 1 for the Fall Semester and October 1 for the Spring Semester and Summer Term.
Educational Environment: A 340-acre campus; average class size is 30; largest lecture hall seats about 200; almost 3,000 faculty and staff.
Financial Aid: Priority deadlines are February 1 for scholarships and other forms of aid (loans, grants, work study,etc.)
Tuition: All fees are subject to change.
Campus Safety: UNLV is proud of its low crime rate. At night the grounds are well lit, and call boxes are located across campus in case of emergency. In addition, there is a shuttle service in the evenings, and residence halls feature state-of-the-art security.
Sports: Students can participate in more than 20 kinds of intramural sports or 16 different sports at the NCAA / Division I intercollegiate level.
Internet Access: Students have free access to the Internet. All campus housing is fully wired.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Starting Fall 2006, UNLV's admission requirements will be as follows:
Freshmen
Minimum GPA: 2.75 weighted gpa in the academic core
Courses:
English - 4 units
Math - 3 units (Algebra level or higher)
Social Science - 3 units
Science - 3 units (2 units must be a lab science)
Transfer Students
Minimum cumulative 2.30 cumulative GPA
24 or more transferable credits
Students with 11 or Less Credits
Must meet entering freshman requirements
Must also meet transfer GPA requirements
Accreditation
All programs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas are accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. The university underwent a full-scale review in 2000 and its accreditation was reaffirmed by the association's Commission on Colleges.
Research
The university made great strides toward its goal of becoming a top-notch research institution when the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching reclassified UNLV, placing it in the category of Doctoral/Research University-Intensive - a substantial jump from its previous classification as a Master's Comprehensive I institution. UNLV increasingly is a dynamic resource for, and partner with, the community that it serves.
Community College of Southern Nevada
Founded in 1971, CCSN is Nevada's largest institution of higher education and the 4th largest community college of its kind in the nation. CCSN operates in over 50 locations including 3 main campuses and 12 learning centers in 4 counties covering 42,000 square miles. With student success as our number one priority, CCSN educates over 35,000 students each semester in over 200 career fields featuring 80 associate degree and certificate programs.
